Port of Zante

Harbour Information, Terminals and Facilities
(Zante, Ionian Islands, Greece)

The port of Zante (also known as Zakynthos) is located on the eastern coast of the island by the same name. The island of Zante is situated to the west of the Greek mainland.

Facilities in the port itself are somewhat sparse. However, the harbour is located at the heart of the city of Zakynthos, within walking distance of shopping, dining, lodging, and other facilities.

The Isle of Zante is famous for its rich, green hillsides and for the quaintness of its mountain villages. Loggerhead turtles spawn off the coast of the island's beautiful beaches and offer a unique glimpse into this natural phenomenon.

The enticing sandy beaches and sunny weather are the principal reasons why Zante holidays have become so popular in recent years. Agios Nikolaos Beach is especially notable and is situated on the south-easterly peninsula, close to Vassilikos. Other good beaches include Alikes, Dafni, Gerakas, Tsilivi and Xehoriati.

Ferry Services

Endeavor Lines, in association with Hellenic Mediterranean Lines, operates limited ferry services from the port of Zante to Brindisi in Italy, via a stopover in Patras. The voyage is an overnight journey that takes around 15 hours to complete. There is a fleet of hydrofoil vessels that carries passengers back and forth between the port of Zante and the port of Kilini in the Peloponnese.

The larger ferries are equipped for those with disabilities, though passengers are advised to contact the company prior to booking to make certain of any special arrangements.
